Holbrook Might Get a Medical Marijuana Cultivation Center

MA Marijuana Cultivation
Holbrook officials are negotiating with a company that plans to seek a state license to cultivate medical marijuana in the town.

Dr. James Kurnick and attorney Phil Silverman told selectmen they are seeking to amend a host-community agreement with Holbrook to operate a medical marijuana cultivation facility on Mear Road in an industrial park warehouse.

Silverman said that its proposal would only allow them to cultivate marijuana in Holbrook and dispense it in other counties.

“We will not have patients coming and going [in Holbrook] which is much more problematic from a security standpoint,” stated Silverman.

The company is looking at communities in Suffolk and Hamden counties and in the Taunton area to dispense their medical marijuana.

As part of the host-community agreement, Silverman said Holbrook would receive 1.75% of the company’s gross receipts. Holbrook officials said that further negotiations would help them learn about how much money they might be receiving annually.
