Governor Baker is scratching his head as the federal government has requested information on the state’s 40,000 medical marijuana patients. The White House National Marijuana Initiative apparently requested the information. Governor Baker is concerned over this request.
The governor has said no information that may compromise patients will be turned over, according to CBS Local Boston. Massachusetts isn’t alone though, other states have also been contacted. General information such as ages of patients, date of acceptance and very, very basic information (nothing on medical conditions or identifying information) was provided to satisfy the request.
Baker said, “I guess it would depend a lot on what exactly they ask for, but the bottom line here is we’re not going to do anything that puts anybody’s personal information in jeopardy. We won’t do anything that is going to violate anybody’s privacy. I can promise you that.”
