Founder of the Gonzo journalist movement, Hunter S. Thompson, was a well-known marijuana consumer. His widow, Anita Thompson, has plans to brand a Gonzo strain to be sold in.
Anita Thompson completed a land trust transfer of Owl Park, Hunter S. Thompson’s famous Aspen compound, giving her full control of the property, reports the Aspen Times. She also gained the rights of ownership to the Gonzo logo. Plans for a Gonzo brand of marijuana to be sold in Colorado recreational marijuana dispensaries are full steam ahead.
Anita said, “[Hunter] would have had a heyday! Could you imagine Hunter Thompson in a? Sometimes it breaks my heart when I go into one and that he’s not here. The best way to honor Hunter’s work is to have him in our hearts when we go into dispensaries, when we smoke legally and when we read his words.”
Anita Thompson saved six strains smoked by Hunter. She is working with a marijuana company to start growing these strains. She will also consider hybrid versions of the strains. She stressed her happiness in waiting to collaborate with a business until the brand and strain could be done right.
