Marijuana for Chronic Pain

Marijuana is a Chronic Pain Reliever

Marijuana is an extraordinary chronic pain killer and anti-inflammatory that helps chronic pain, back pain and joint pain to name a few.

It’s interesting to note that the majority of chronic disease is associated with inflammation as the root cause. Apparently, because marijuana is an extraordinary anti-inflammatory it is reported to even relieve the excruciating pain caused from Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and osteoporosis.

In January 2006, investigators at the British Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Disease reported successful treatment of arthritis with cannabinoids in the first-ever controlled trial assessing the efficacy of natural cannabis extracts on Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an inflammatory disease of the joints characterized by chronic pain, stiffness, and swelling, as well as an eventual loss of limb function. Rheumatoid arthritis is estimated to affect about one percent of the total population, primarily women.

Another painful and chronic inflammatory disease that marijuana helps, which affects mostly women, is osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a degenerative skeletal disease characterized by a deterioration of bone tissue causing joint and back pain. Approximately 10 million Americans over age 50 suffer from osteoporosis, according to the US Surgeon General’s office, and another 34 million are at risk for developing the disease. Initial references regarding the potential use of marijuana to protect against the onset of osteoporosis are available in the scientific literature beginning in the early 1990s. Marijuana is one of the most promising of Mama Nature’s medicinal wonders for relieving chronic pain by working naturally with the body’s cells and their cannabinoid receptors.
